Mashup Score: 0Adjunctive Use of Gabapentinoids Increases Opioid... : Spine - 49 minute(s) ago
abalin are analogues of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and are frequently used as adjuncts in multimodal anesthesia strategies for managing acute pain. However, the opioid-sparing effect of gabapentinoids in the context of spine surgery has yet to be consistently demonstrated. Materials and Methods. The PearlDiver database was queried from 2010 to 2021 for patients who underwent primary one to three levels ALIF with posterior fixation. Patients with opioid or gabapentinoid use within six months before index surgery were excluded. Patients with both gabapentinoid and opioid treatment were propensity score matched to patients with opioid-only treatment. Results. The propensity score-matching resulted in two equal groups of 2617 patients with and without adjunctive gabapentinoid treatment for pain management. Adjunctive use of gabapentinoids was associated with a modest 2.9% reduction in average morphine milligram equivalent (MME) per day [standardized mean

Mashup Score: 0Elevated expression of Piezo1 activates the cGAS-STING pathway in chondrocytes by releasing mitochondrial DNA - 6 hour(s) ago
Abnormal mechanical stress is a key factor in osteoarthritis (OA) pathogenesis. This study aims to investigate the role of the mechanosensitive ion channel Piezo1 in activating the cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway and its contribution to cartilage degradation in OA.

Mashup Score: 1Local immune effector cell-associated toxicity syndrome in CAR T-cell treated patients with autoimmune disease: an observational study - 8 hour(s) ago
LICATS is a new form of toxicity in patients with autoimmune disease receiving CD19-targeting CAR T-cell therapy, most likely based on the cleansing of immune cells from the affected organs. It is self-limited, organ-specific, and usually mild in its intensity.

Mashup Score: 0A new toxicity syndrome in patients with autoimmune disease treated with CAR T-cell therapy - 8 hour(s) ago
Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, initially developed for the treatment of refractory haematological malignancies, represents an exciting new therapeutic modality for patients with autoimmune disease. Although data are scarce, early studies of CD19-targeting CAR T-cell therapy demonstrated promising results in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), systemic sclerosis, and idiopathic inflammatory myopathy.1,2 However, questions remain about the use of CAR T-cell therapy in autoimmune disease, including the safety profile of CAR T-cell therapy in patients with autoimmune disease.
