In 2017, through the ISN Sister Renal Centers Program, staff from the nephrology section of the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) in Alberta, Canada, began supporting staff from the pediatr ic nephrology unit at the Department of Paediatrics, University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Nigeria. The partnership’s primary goal was to develop pediatric nephrology at the center in Ibadan. The main priorities were to: Increase the provision of acute peritoneal dialysis Develop research in pediatric nephrology

ildcare due to nontraditional work hours with extended or unpredictable shifts. Here, we examine awareness of current policies in United States (US) nephrology fellowship programs regarding parental leave, pregnancy/breastfeeding accommodations, and fellows’ perspectives on family planning. Methods: An anonymous, on-line survey of US nephrology fellows was undertaken from June 9 to August, 24, 2023. Results: One hundred twenty nephrology fellows submitted the survey. A majority of fellow respondents were unaware of parental leave policies of their training programs (63%), Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) (75%), and/or American Board of Medical Specialties(ABMS) (75%). Forty two percent were unaware of the duration of parental leave at their program. Nearly 45% of all respondents were unsure if their program limited night shifts or shifts greater than 24 hours for pregnant trainees. Forty three percent reported they were unsure of lactation accommodations, an

National and international policies on parental leave for physician trainees are inconsistent. This study found most nephrology fellows were unaware of parental leave policies and pregnancy/lactation accommodations, emphasizing need for improved awareness https://t.co/WLi2sMEs2t https://t.co/pht91qgCGa

of 519 biopsy-proven PLA2R-associated primary membranous nephropathy patients with baseline eGFR ≥25 ml/min per 1.73 m2. The combined risk score was calculated by combining the genetic risk score with PLA2R ELISA antibody titers. The primary end point was kidney disease progression defined as a 50% reduction in eGFR or kidney failure. Cox proportional hazard regression analysis and C-statistics were applied to compare the performance of PLA2R antibody, genetic risk score, and combined risk score, as compared with clinical factors alone, in predicting primary outcomes. Results The median age was 56 years (range, 15–82 years); the male-to-female ratio was 1:0.6, the median eGFR at biopsy was 99 ml/min per 1.73 m2 (range: 26–167 ml/min per 1.73 m2), and the median proteinuria was 5.3 g/24 hours (range: 1.5–25.8 g/24 hours). During a median follow-up of 67 (5–200) months, 66 (13%) had kidney disease progression. In Cox proportional hazard regression models, PLA2R antibody titers, genetic r

tions that support specific physiologic processes. However, the heterogeneity of human kidney endothelial cells has not yet been systematically described. Methods We reprocessed and integrated seven human kidney control single-cell/single-nucleus RNA sequencing datasets of >200,000 kidney cells in the same process. Results We identified five major cell types, 29,992 of which were endothelial cells. Endothelial cell reclustering identified seven subgroups that differed in molecular characteristics and physiologic functions. Mapping new data to a normal kidney endothelial cell atlas allows rapid data annotation and analysis. We confirmed that endothelial cell types in the human kidney were also highly conserved in the mouse kidney and identified endothelial marker genes that were conserved in humans and mice, as well as differentially expressed genes between corresponding subpopulations. Furthermore, combined analysis of single-cell transcriptome data with public genome-wide association
