Background Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has previously been associated with several comorbidities that may have shared genetic, epigenetic, developmental or environmental origins. PCOS may be influenced by prenatal androgen excess, poor intrauterine or childhood environmental factors, childhood obesity and learned health risk behaviors. We analyzed the association between PCOS and several relevant comorbidities while adjusting for early-life biological and socioeconomic conditions, also investigating the extent to which the association is affected by familial risk factors. Background Despite declining mortality in most countries and in Lithuania, ovarian cancer burden has remained high. Studies have indicated that antihypertensive medications use may help to improve ovarian cancer survival, however findings remain controversial. The aim of the study was to analyse the association between post-diagnosis antihypertensive medications intake and cancer-specific survival in ovarian cancer patients. Methods This retrospective cohort study included 588 ovarian cancer cases diagnosed between 2013 and 2015. Hazard ratios (HR) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) were estimated using multivariable Cox proportional hazards models to assess associations between antihypertensive medications and ovarian cancer-specific mortality. Results In total, 279 (47%) patients died during the follow-up; 242 (87%) of them died due to ovarian cancer. Background Evidence from recent studies suggested that variation in the quantity and quality of macronutrients in the diet may potentially play a role in predicting the risk of breast cancer (BC). In the current study, we aimed to assess the association of different high-protein diet scores and replacing fats and carbohydrate (CHO) with protein in the diet with the BC risk among Iranian women. Methods The current hospital-based case-control study was conducted on 401 participants, aged ≥ 30 years old, including 134 women in the case group who had been diagnosed with histologically confirmed BC and 267 women in the control group. Dietary intake data was collected using a validated food frequency questionnaire, and high protein diet scores were determined. Background Primary dysmenorrhea (PD) is an etiological cyclic pelvic pain related to the menstrual period; it can negatively impact women’s quality of life and productivity. The aim of the present study was to estimate the prevalence of PD and analyze associated symptoms in Brazilian women. Methods An online cross-sectional study was carried out in Brazil, with a structured questionnaire regarding dysmenorrhea and associated symptoms. PD intensity was measured with the Numerical Rating Scale for Pain and classified as mild (1–3), moderate (4–7) and severe (> 8). The association between qualitative variables was performed using Pearson’s Chi-Square Test. The quantification of this association was measured using multinomial logistic regression models, with calculation of Odds Ratio and confidence interval. A significance level of 5% was considered. Background There is a lack of evidence that pregnancy reduces endometriotic lesions or symptoms, however studies indicate that people with endometriosis are commonly advised to get pregnant to manage or treat endometriosis. This study sought to examine the impact of this advice on patients with endometriosis when the advice was provided by healthcare professionals. Methods The Endometriosis Patient Experience Survey was a self-reported, community-based, cross-sectional online survey of people who had been medically diagnosed with endometriosis. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the quantitative survey data and thematic analysis was undertaken for the qualitative survey data. Background Ectopic pregnancy (EP) has many adverse effects on the relationship between couples. The present study aims to assess the association between sexual function (SF), quality of marital relationship (QMR) and associated factors in women with a history of EP. Method This cross-sectional study was performed on 220 women with a history of EP in Kerman in 2022. Convenience sampling method was applied. Data were collected using the female sexual function index (FSFI) and the perceived relationship quality components scale (PRQC) questionnaires and were analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics (median regression) in Stata software version 17.
