Mashup Score: 9Sex differences in plaque characteristics of fractional flow reserve-negative non-culprit lesions after myocardial infarction - 20 hour(s) ago
Recurrent events after myocardial infarction (MI) are common and often originate from native non-culprit (NC) lesions that are non-flow limiting. These lesions consequently pose as targets to improve long-term outcome. It is, however, largely unknown whether these lesions differ between sexes. The aim of this study was to assess such potential differences.

Mashup Score: 6Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation: Two Decades of a Revolutionary and Ongoing Odyssey | Circulation - 2 day(s) ago
Few medical technologies have faced as many challenges and achieved as much success as transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), which is regarded as one of the most important medical breakthroughs in cardiology in recent decades. Developed in the face of skepticism, over the past 20 years TAVI has become the dominant therapy for calcific aortic stenosis (AS), the most common acquired heart valve disease, with a prevalenc e of 5% of the population > 70 years of age, and increasing with age. If left

BACKGROUND: Empagliflozin and dapagliflozin have proven cardiovascular benefits in people with type 2 diabetes at high cardiovascular risk, but their comparative effectiveness is unknown. METHODS: This study used nationwide, population-based Danish health registries to emulate a hypothetical target trial comparing empagliflozin versus dapagliflozin initiation, in addition to standard care, among people with treated type 2 diabetes from 2014 through 2020. The outcome was a composite of myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, heart failure (HF), or cardiovascular death (major adverse cardiovascular event). Participants were followed until an outcome, emigration, or death occurred; 6 years after initiation; or December 31, 2021, whichever occurred first. Logistic regression was used to compute inverse probability of treatment and censoring weights, controlling for 57 potential confounders. In intention-to-treat analyses, 6-year adjusted risks, risk differences, and risk ratios considering

Mashup Score: 3Plasma C-reactive protein is associated with a pro-inflammatory and adverse plaque phenotype - 3 day(s) ago
Systemic low-grade inflammation, measured by plasma high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels, is an important risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). To date, however, it is unknown whether plasma hsCRP is associated with adverse histological plaque features.
