Mashup Score: 28Regional conduction velocities determined by non-invasive mapping are associated with arrhythmia-free survival after atrial fibrillation ablation - 23 hour(s) ago
Atrial arrhythmogenic substrate is a key determinant of atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI), and reduced conduction-velocities have been linked to adverse outcome. However, a non-invasive method to assess such electrophysiological substrate is not available to date.

Mashup Score: 20Durability of Thermal Pulmonary Vein Isolation in Persistent Atrial Fibrillation Assessed by Mandated Repeat Invasive Study - 1 day(s) ago
No study has assessed durability of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) with radiofrequency (RF) and Cryoballoon (CB) in patients with persistent AF. These data are especially lacking for those with significantly diseased left atria (LA).

Mashup Score: 10Efficacy and safety of once-daily carvedilol in patients with atrial fibrillation: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial - 2 day(s) ago
Heart rate (HR) control is a mainstay of atrial fibrillation (AF) management. Guidelines recommend first-line β-blockers for HR control in paroxysmal, persistent, or permanent AF.1 Carvedilol, a nonselective β-blocker, has a documented HR-lowering effect; in a dose-escalation study of Japanese patients with chronic AF (AF Carvedilol study), each dose of carvedilol (5, 10, or 20 mg once daily) significantly reduced HR from baseline (HR ≥80 beats/min) during 6 weeks of treatment.2 Although off-label carvedilol indications include AF,3 there are currently no phase 3 clinical trial data to support carvedilol use for HR control in patients with AF.

Mashup Score: 61Rapid reviews methods series: assessing the appropriateness of conducting a rapid review - 5 day(s) ago
This paper, part of the Cochrane Rapid Review Methods Group series, offers guidance on determining when to conduct a rapid review (RR) instead of a full systematic review (SR). While both review types aim to comprehensively synthesise evidence, RRs, conducted within a shorter time frame of typically 6 months or less, involve streamlined methods to expedite the process. The decision to opt for an RR depends on the urgency of the research question, resource availability and the impact on decision outcomes. The paper categorises scenarios where RRs are appropriate, including urgent decision-making, informing guidelines, assessing new technologies and identifying evidence gaps. It also outlines instances when RRs may be inappropriate, cautioning against conducting them solely for ease, quick publication or only cost-saving motives. When deciding on an RR, it is crucial to consider both conceptual and practical factors. These factors encompass the urgency of needing timely evidence, the con

Mashup Score: 3CARE-radiology statement explanation and elaboration: reporting guideline for radiological case reports - 5 day(s) ago
Despite the increasing number of radiological case reports, the majority lack a standardised methodology of writing and reporting. We therefore develop a reporting guideline for radiological case reports based on the CAse REport (CARE) statement. We established a multidisciplinary group of experts, comprising 40 radiologists, methodologists, journal editors and researchers, to develop a reporting guideline for radiological case reports according to the methodology recommended by the Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research network. The Delphi panel was requested to evaluate the significance of a list of elements for potential inclusion in a guideline for reporting mediation analyses. By reviewing the reporting guidelines and through discussion, we initially drafted 46 potential items. Following a Delphi survey and discussion, the final CARE-radiology checklist is comprised of 38 items in 16 domains. CARE-radiology is a comprehensive reporting guideline for radiological

Programmed cell death protein 1(PD-1) axis blockade has become the mainstay in the treatment of recurrent and/or metastatic (R/M) head and neck squamous cell cancer (HNSCC). PD-L1 is the only approved biomarker for patient selection; however, response rate is limited even among high expressors. Our primary objective was to investigate the association of immune-cell-related biomarkers in the tumor and tumor microenvironment with PD-1 checkpoint inhibitors’ outcomes in patients with R/M HNSCC.
