#ESCCongress #JACCHF SimPub: CH predicts cardiac death & all-cause mortality in DCM pts w/ an optimal threshold for clone size of 0.36% & 0.06%, respectively. Therefore, CH is prognostically relevant independent of clone size in pts w/ #DCM. https://t.co/efwfBotj6d #CardioTwitter https://t.co/LSz4RHs0Kv

Mashup Score: 0Study Reveals Significant Difference in Cardiomyopathy Genes Between Black and White Patients - 9 month(s) ago
August 8, 2023 — Although at greater risk, a new study found that patients of African ancestry with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) were less likely to have clinically actionable variants in DCM genes than those of European ancestry. LSU Health New Orleans is one of the 25 clinical sites nationally that enrolled participants in the study. Professor and Chief of Cardiology Dr. Frank Smart leads the LSU Health New Orleans site. The research, which adds critical genetic information about this understudied population, is published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, available here. “Black patients with cardiomyopathy have an increased familial risk, as well as an increased risk of adverse outcomes from cardiomyopathy compared to white patients,” notes Dr. Smart. “Despite knowing the increased risk in black patients, most patients who have been involved in clinical trials for heart failure have been white. Genetic trials associated with heart failure have had an even more sign

Purpose of Review The aim of this paper is to briefly summarise the clinical approach to disease notation for cardiomyopathies and to highlight its limitations with respect to the integration of new knowledge about aetiology. Recent Findings The paper uses the recently advocated concept of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy as an example of the limitations of current classification systems. Summary At…

Mashup Score: 0The penetrance of rare variants in cardiomyopathy-associated genes: a cross-sectional approach to estimate penetrance for secondary findings - 1 year(s) ago
Understanding the penetrance of pathogenic variants identified as secondary findings (SFs) is of paramount importance with the growing availability of genetic testing. We estimated penetrance through large-scale analyses of patients referred for diagnostic sequencing for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM; 10,400 cases, 1,340 variants) and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM; 2,564 cases, 665 variants),…

Mashup Score: 0CMR feature tracking in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy: patterns of myocardial strain and focal fibrosis - 1 year(s) ago
Background There is a paucity of data on cardiovascular magnetic resonance feature tracking (CMR-FT) in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). We aimed at describing global and segmental myocardial strain patterns and a potential association with the presence of focal myocardial scarring in DCM patients by CMR-FT. Methods Thirty-nine patients with DCM and reduced left ventricular (LV)…
