Mashup Score: 3Lipid-lowering efficacy of obicetrapib: A comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis - 26 day(s) ago
The primary function of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) is to facilitate the transfer of cholesteryl esters and triglycerides between lipoproteins. CETP inhibitors reduce the transfer of cholesterol from high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles to low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low-density lipoprotein particles (VLDL). This results in elevated HDL-C levels and a decrease in LDL-C, non-HDL-C, and apolipoprotein B (ApoB) levels.1 Observational studies have demonstrated that certain reduced-function polymorphisms of CETP are associated with a decrease in major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and mortality.

Mashup Score: 3Causation and Association of Remnant Cholesterol with Cardiovascular Outcomes Do Not Imply Clinical Utility: A Call for Action - 30 day(s) ago
Remnant cholesterol (remnant-C) has emerged as a significant cardiovascular (CV) risk factor, complementing the traditional focus on low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). Recent years have witnessed an increased understanding of remnant-C’s atherogenicity, highlighting its prominent role in the residual risk of cardiovascular events, even after LDL-C reduction (1, 2). Interestingly, the widespread use of LDL-C-lowering drugs has overshadowed the understanding of remnant-C as a causal CV risk factor for over 30 years.

Mashup Score: 3Impact of In-Hospital Bleeding on Post-Discharge Therapies... : Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology - 1 month(s) ago
from 23,270 patients enrolled in the international PRAISE registry and discharged after ACS were analyzed. A total of 1,060 patients experienced IHB, while 18,765 did not; 3,445 were excluded due to missing data. The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality at 1 year. Secondary endpoints included major bleeding, reinfarction, and composite endpoints at 1 year. Patients with IHB were older, more frequently female, and had a higher prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors (all p < 0.05). At discharge, IHB patients were less likely to receive optimal medical therapy. At the one-year follow-up, all-cause mortality, major bleeding, and reinfarction were significantly higher in the IHB group (all p 1; all p < 0.001). These associations remained significant even after adjusting for several covariates, except for reinfarction (OR 1.3; 95% CI 0.9–2.11; p = 0.149). Age, female sex, hy

Statins, ezetimibe and statins-ezetimibe combination therapy are recommended lipid-lowering therapies (LLTs) in children with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (HeFH). However, their relative effectiveness is not well understood. We aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of these therapies using direct and indirect comparisons.
