Mashup Score: 2
Cyclic Cushing’s syndrome is a subentity of Cushing’s syndrome in which phases of biochemical hypercortisolism (peaks) are followed by spontaneous periods of physiological or even hypocortisolaemic cortisol secretion (troughs). To identify common features of cyclic Cushing’s syndrome, we systematically reviewed single case reports and case series in MEDLINE from database inception to Oct 10, 2022, and identified 707 articles, of which 149 articles were assessed for eligibility and 118 articles (covering 212 cases) were included in the analysis.

Mashup Score: 0Sedentary children risk liver disease in young adulthood - 9 hour(s) ago
BOSTON — Accumulating sedentary time during childhood was associated with increased risk for liver disease in young adulthood, but boosting light physical activity may lessen the risk, according to data presented at ENDO 2024.“This study suggests that sedentariness might be as strong as obesity in its deleterious effect on the liver,” Andrew Agbaje, MD, MPH, PhD, FESC, FAHA,

Mashup Score: 7Hyperthyroidism: aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, management, complications, and prognosis - 9 hour(s) ago
Hyperthyroidism is a common condition with a global prevalence of 0·2–1·3%. When clinical suspicion of hyperthyroidism arises, it should be confirmed by biochemical tests (eg, low TSH, high free thyroxine [FT4], or high free tri-iodothyonine [FT3]). If hyperthyroidism is confirmed by biochemical tests, a nosological diagnosis should be done to find out which disease is causing the hyperthyroidism. Helpful tools are TSH-receptor antibodies, thyroid peroxidase antibodies, thyroid ultrasonography, and scintigraphy.

Mashup Score: 32Continuous glucose monitoring and metrics for clinical trials: an international consensus statement - 10 hour(s) ago
Randomised controlled trials and other prospective clinical studies for novel medical interventions in people with diabetes have traditionally reported HbA1c as the measure of average blood glucose levels for the 3 months preceding the HbA1c test date. The use of this measure highlights the long-established correlation between HbA1c and relative risk of diabetes complications; the change in the measure, before and after the therapeutic intervention, is used by regulators for the approval of medications for diabetes.

Mashup Score: 12Subclinical hypothyroidism in older individuals - 11 hour(s) ago
Subclinical hypothyroidism, which is defined as a thyroid-stimulating hormone concentration higher than the reference range (generally 4·5 mIU/L or higher) with normal free thyroxine concentrations, is frequently found in older individuals. International guidelines differ in recommendations for management of subclinical hypothyroidism in older individuals. We assessed published data during the past decade on the clinical significance and treatment of subclinical hypothyroidism in individuals aged 65 years and older.

Mashup Score: 3Molecular basis of normal and pathological puberty: from basic mechanisms to clinical implications - 12 hour(s) ago
Puberty is a major maturational event; its mechanisms and timing are driven by genetic determinants, but also controlled by endogenous and environmental cues. Substantial progress towards elucidation of the neuroendocrine networks governing puberty has taken place. However, key aspects of the mechanisms responsible for the precise timing of puberty and its alterations have only recently begun to be deciphered, propelled by epidemiological data suggesting that pubertal timing is changing in humans, via mechanisms that are not yet understood.
