Lower Risk of Mortality for Shock Patients Transferred to Expert Centers - 2 month(s) ago

The US data also point to lower costs and shorter stays at these expert centers, an argument for regionalized care akin to STEMI.

Could emulated trials play a key role in cardiogenic shock trials? - 3 month(s) ago

Temporary mechanical circulatory support (tMCS) using extracorporeal life support (ECLS), has been widely implemented in patients with cardiogenic shock (CS), although evidence regarding its efficacy and safety remains unclear. This lack of clarity has recently raised concerns about the role of tMCS in CS management. Conducting randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in the context of CS poses significant challenges due to ethical considerations and logistical complexities. In response to these challenges, emulated trials (ETs) are emerging as a promising alternative.

Outcomes of Patients Transferred to Tertiary Care Centers for Treatment of Cardiogenic Shock: A Cardiogenic Shock Working Group Analysis - 1 year(s) ago

Consensus recommendations for cardiogenic shock (CS) advise transfer of patients in need of advanced options beyond the capability of “spoke” centers to tertiary/“hub” centers with higher capabilities. However, outcomes associated with such transfers are largely unknown beyond those reported in individual health networks.

🫀In this #CardiogenicShock study, over 1/2 of CS pts at large hubs had been transferred from other hospitals. They had higher mortality compared to those presenting directly to the hub & this was primarily driven by pts with HF-CS rather than AMI-CS. 🔗https://t.co/JwAsnJrCoN https://t.co/l3sz2sKP44
