Mashup Score: 1Short-term Exposure to Air Pollution and Ischemic Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis - 7 month(s) ago
Background: Approximately five million fatalities occur annually due to stroke, along with its substantial effects on patient well-being and functional impairment. Research has established a connection between extended exposure to air pollutants and ischemic stroke. However, the link between short-term exposure to air pollutants and stroke remains less definitive. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted on MEDLINE, Scopus, The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), and Web of Sciences databases up until February 2023, without any language restrictions. The inclusion criteria encompassed observational or interventional studies that examined the correlation between short-term exposure to air pollutants ((Carbon Monoxide (CO), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Ozone (O3)), as well as particulate matter with diameters of less than 1 µm, less than 2.5 µm, or less than 10 µm (PM1, PM2.5, and PM10), with the incidence and mortality of ischemic stroke. Mashup Score: 165WHO global air quality guidelines: particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), ozone, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide - 8 month(s) ago
Clean air is fundamental to health. Compared to 15 years ago, when the previous edition of these guidelines was published, there is now a much stronger body of evidence to show how air pollution affects different aspects of health at even lower concentrations than previously understood. But here’s what hasn’t changed: every year, exposure to air pollution is still estimated to cause millions of deaths and the loss of healthy years of life.

Mashup Score: 0Air pollution may worsen Covid-19 symptoms - 8 month(s) ago
Long-term exposure to air pollution could be a factor in the worsening symptoms of Covid-19, according to a government-commissioned report. Findings from the Committee On The Medical Effects of Air Pollutants said there was not enough evidence available to suggest that pollution increases the risk of infection from the virus. However, it can increase the… Read more
