Binding sites in the costoclavicular space are commonly encountered during transvenous lead extraction. Severe adhesions may warrant use of more aggressive rotational cutting tools or surgical intervention. It is not known whether preprocedural multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) can provide information about the likelihood that a patient will require costoclavicular intervention.

Recurrent ventricular tachycardia (VT) can be treated by substrate modification of the myocardial scar by catheter ablation during sinus rhythm without VT induction. Better defining this arrhythmic substrate could help improve outcome and reduce ablation burden.

Where activation wavefront curvature is convexly shaped, functional conduction block can occur. Objective: We sought to determine whether left ventricular (LV) wall thickness determined from contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) is useful to localize such areas in clinical postinfarction reentrant ventricular tachycardia (VT).

Mashup Score: 2Do Non-Dihydropyridine Calcium Channel Blockers Increase Bleeding Risk with Direct Oral Anticoagulants? - 10 day(s) ago
Drug interactions are not a new phenomenon, yet some may be overlooked simply because they are not well recognised. Recent studies have highlighted an interaction between diltiazem – a commonly prescribed non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker used for rate control in atrial fibrillation (AF) – and direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) which inhibit Factor Xa to, amongst other indications, reduce stroke risk in AF. As mentioned, this is not a new concept – indeed, a pharmacokinetic study 10 years ago demonstrated a 1.4-fold increase in apixaban exposure when co-prescribed diltiazem(1).

Mashup Score: 3Potential interactions between medications for rate control and direct oral anticoagulants: population-based cohort and case-crossover study - 10 day(s) ago
Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are commonly co-prescribed with amiodarone/diltiazem/verapamil, but whether there is a drug interaction between these drugs is unclear.

Pulsed-field ablation (PFA) using a pentaspline-catheter for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) is performed in a standardized fashion. Whether a reduced number of applications results in similar clinical outcomes has not been fully investigated.

Adherence to recommended follow-up schedules for remote monitoring (RM) of patients with ICDs is inconsistent, which may influence clinical outcomes. Systematic organization through a « third-party » universal monitoring system (UMS) may be beneficial.

Left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) is an alternative therapy for patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation who are not eligible for long-term oral anticoagulation. However, the optimal therapy after this procedure still is controversial, especially in a subgroup of patients with severe renal dysfunction.

Mashup Score: 11Temperature-Based Rate Response in a Leadless Pacemaker System - 11 day(s) ago
A new dual chamber leadless pacemaker (DR-LP) system, comprised of two implantable devices in the right ventricle and right atrium, uses a less common temperature-based rate-response sensor. There is a need to understand the effectiveness of the rate response during exercise in both the ventricular (VR-LP) and atrial (AR-LP) devices.
