Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to exert a heavy burden in most countries in the world, with high blood pressure continuing to be one of the most important drivers of this burden. The urgency to tackle CVD has never been clearer. WHO launched a global effort (the Global Hearts Initiative) with five technical packages aimed at targeting major drivers of the CVD burden, including actions on tobacco (MPOWER), physical activity (ACTIVE), some aspects of diet such as reducing salt (SHAKE) and trans fats intake (REPLACE) and HEARTS. HEARTS is a set of activities to improve cardiovascular risk management in primary care, with a focus on high blood pressure.1 The HEARTS technical package is an institutionalised model of care and a set of guidelines for cardiovascular risk management, focusing on hypertension control and secondary prevention in primary healthcare. HEARTS is structured around six pillars, focusing on treatment and medication protocols, better quality blood pressure measur

While humanized animalmodels are relatively new to drug development compared to their non-humanizedcounterparts, they are critical tools in the landscape of biologic drugdevelopment. Their success is due to the ability of humanized models to developersrefine their therapies to boost efficacy and reduce toxicity which is crucialfor advancing them to the clinic. In this GEN webinar, Aaron Rose, PhD, explores how biological therapeutics are reshaping the traditional drug development process and why humanized

Continuity of care—seeing the same GP over time—reduces the need for emergency care and increases longevity in patients.1 It leads to better patient satisfaction and improved quality of care.2 It also has the potential to make GPs into better doctors—not just for the individual patient in front of us, as we learn more about their life and gain their trust, but by deepening our understanding of medicine. Although I was technically ready for practice when I completed my training, I know that I’m a better …
