A mechanobiological model of bone metastasis reveals that mechanical stimulation inhibits the pro-osteolytic effects of breast cancer cells
Kumar et al. report the development of advanced in vitro and computational models to help explain the synergistic influence of tumor-bone cell signaling and mechanobiological cues in regulating tumor growth. Mechanical compression attenuates tumor-induced osteolysis, thereby highlighting the importance of mechanobiological factors in the development of bone metastasis.
