Mashup Score: 1Automated artificial intelligence-based phase recognition system for esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection (with video) - 8 hour(s) ago
Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for superficial esophageal cancer is a multistep treatment involving several endoscopic processes. Although analyzing each phase separately is worthwhile, it is not realistic in practice because of the need for considerable manpower. To solve this problem, we aimed to establish a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI)-based system, specifically, an automated phase recognition system that can automatically identify each endoscopic phase based on video images.

Jejunostomy tube placements provides enteral access for feeding in eligible patients who cannot meet their nutritional needs by mouth. They can be surgically placed laparoscopically (lap-J) or with the use of a conventional open laparotomy approach (open-J). Recently, direct percutaneous endoscopic jejunostomy (DPEJ) has emerged as an alternative owing to its low cost and shorter recovery times. We sought to retrospectively compare the procedural success rates and adverse events of these methods.

Endocuff VisionTM has been designed to enhance mucosal visualization thereby improving detection of (pre-)malignant colorectal lesions. This multicenter, international, back-to-back, randomized colonoscopy trial compared adenoma detection rate (ADR) and adenoma miss rate (AMR) between Endocuff Vision-assisted colonoscopy (EVC) and conventional colonoscopy (CC).

Mashup Score: 14Endoscopic closure of refractory external pancreatic fistula by injecting metal coil in the fistula tract - 4 day(s) ago
A 34-year-old woman underwent distal pancreatectomy for mucinous cystadenoma. Postoperatively she experienced an external pancreatic fistula (EPF) with a daily drain output of 300 to 500 mL/day of amylase-rich fluid. After 3 weeks of conservative treatment had failed, she underwent endoscopic retrograde pancreatography (ERP). The pancreatic duct (PD) was disrupted at the distal end, with extravasation of contrast material into the fistula tract. After pancreatic sphincterotomy, a 7F 10-cm transpapillary PD stent was placed.

Adenomas per colonoscopy (APC) may be a better measure of colonoscopy quality than adenoma detection rate (ADR) because it credits endoscopists for each detected adenoma. There are few data examining the association between APC and postcolonoscopy colorectal cancer (PCCRC) incidence. We used data from the New Hampshire Colonoscopy Registry to examine APC and PCCRC risk.

ERCP is a complex endoscopic procedure in which the center’s procedure volume influences outcomes. With the increasing healthcare expenses and limited resources, promoting cost-effective care becomes essential for healthcare provision. This study performed a cost-effectiveness analysis to evaluate the hypothesis that high-volume (HV) centers perform ERCP with higher quality at lower costs than low-volume (LV) centers.
