Mashup Score: 0Pediatric Neurology in the Post-Roe Era - 3 month(s) ago
Dismantling the precedent previously established by Roe v Wade has had far-reaching consequences. Since the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, abortion bans or restrictions have been enacted across half of the country.1,2 The purpose of this editorial is to discuss the practical implications of the Dobbs decision for pediatric neurologists, our patients, and their families/caregivers. As a microcosm of our polarized society, the pediatric neurology community likely contains a multitude of views on abortion and its regulation.

Mashup Score: 35Leptomeningeal enhancement in pediatric MOG antibody disease, multiple sclerosis, and NMOSD - 3 month(s) ago
Anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody disease (MOGAD) is a type of acquired demyelinating disease that is distinct from multiple sclerosis (MS) and aquaporin-4 antibody neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (AQP4-NMOSD). Leptomeningeal enhancement (LME) has been reported in children and adults with MOGAD, and in adults with MS and AQP4-NMOSD, but less is known about LME in pediatric-onset MS (POMS) and pediatric AQP4-NMOSD. Here we compare rates of LME in children with MOGAD, POMS, and AQP4-NMOSD.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and a popular branch of AI known as machine learning (ML) are increasingly being utilized in medicine and to inform medical research. This review provides an overview of AI and ML (AI/ML), including definitions of common terms. We discuss the history of AI and provide instances of how AI/ML can be applied to pediatric neurology. Examples include imaging in neuro-oncology, autism diagnosis, diagnosis from charts, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and neonatal neurology. Topics such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning are discussed.
