Mashup Score: 2
Objectives The aim of this study was to create a new Vall d’Hebron Risk Score-II (VH-RS-II) for non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI) and/or cardiac death (CD), excluding patients with coronary revascularisation (CR) during the follow-up. Methods We analysed 5215 consecutive patients underwent gated single photon emission CT (SPECT); 2960 patients (age 64.2±11, male 58.1%) had no previous MI and/or CR, and 2255 patients (age 63.3±11, male 81.9%) had previous MI and/or CR. During a follow-up of 4.3±2.6 years, the cardiac event (MI and CD) was evaluated. This study was reviewed and approved by the ethics committee of our institution (number form trial register, PR(AG)168.2012). To obtain the predictor model, multivariate Cox regression analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used. RS-VH-II was validated with 679 patients. Results In patients without previous MI and/or CR, age (HR: 1.01; p<0.001), diabetes (HR: 2.1, p=0.001), metabolic equivalent (METs) (HR: 0.89, p=0.0

Mashup Score: 1Cardiovascular imaging research priorities - 9 month(s) ago
Objectives Two interlinked surveys were organised by the British Heart Foundation Data Science Centre, which aimed to establish national priorities for cardiovascular imaging research. Methods First a single time point public survey explored their views of cardiovascular imaging research. Subsequently, a three-phase modified Delphi prioritisation exercise was performed by researchers and healthcare professionals. Research questions were submitted by a diverse range of stakeholders to the question ‘What are the most important research questions that cardiovascular imaging should be used to address?’. Of these, 100 research questions were prioritised based on their positive impact for patients. The 32 highest rated questions were further prioritised based on three domains: positive impact for patients, potential to reduce inequalities in healthcare and ability to be implemented into UK healthcare practice in a timely manner. Results The public survey was completed by 354 individuals, wit

Mashup Score: 0Heart failure virtual consultation: caters for frailer, multimorbid and remote patients - 9 month(s) ago
Background: The heart failure (HF) virtual consultation (VC) is an eHealth tool for delivery of peer-to-peer specialist advice to general practitioners (GPs) to discuss HF diagnosis/management. We aim to investigate the impact of the VC service on onward referral rate and quality of assessment by GPs, as well as assess VC patient characteristics; Clinical Frailty Score (CSF), age and morbidity. Methods: This prospective observational study collected VC data on: demographics, comorbidity, frailty, referral indication, the impact of VC on clinical care and the GP response to the question ‘what would you have done without the VC service’. We compared patient characteristics to a control population of patients attending the HF unit (HFU) (n=118). Reults: Between 2015 and 2021, 1681 VC cases were discussed. The majority of cases were discussed from remote areas (75%). Rediscussion cases increased from 0% to 34%. VC patients were older (76.2 (±11.3) vs 73.1 (±12.5) years, p<0.05), more frail

Mashup Score: 0Continuous long-term heart rate variability and risk assessment in pulmonary hypertension - 10 month(s) ago
Objective Current multimodal risk assessment for pulmonary hypertension (PH) has been redefined with a simplified assessment for follow-up in the new European Society of Cardiology/European Respiratory Society (ESC/ERS) guidelines. Follow-up risk assessment parameters include WHO functional class, 6 min walk test and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide. Although these parameters have…
