Mashup Score: 4Predicting impaired cardiopulmonary exercise capacity in patients with atrial fibrillation using a simple echocardiographic marker - 4 day(s) ago
Exercise intolerance is a common symptom associated with atrial fibrillation (AF). However, echocardiographic markers that can predict impaired exercise capacity are lacking.

Pulsed-field ablation (PFA) has shown promising data in terms of safety and procedural efficiency for pulmonary vein isolation (PVI), with similar long-term outcomes compared to radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and cryoballoon ablation (CBA) in patient with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF)

We would like to comment on the publication “Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome after COVID-19 vaccination [1].” This study evaluated patients who received the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine and then developed new or worsening symptoms of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Patients treated in a POTS clinic between July 2021 and June 2022 were studied. They contrasted these patients’ cutaneous sympathetic nerve activity (SKNA) and heart rate variability (HRV) measurements with those of a group of healthy controls.

Mashup Score: 65Clinical characteristics of electrical storm in patients with early repolarization syndrome - 5 day(s) ago
Early repolarization syndrome (ERS) is an idiopathic ventricular fibrillation (VF) associated with inferolateral J waves. While electrical storm (ES) in ERS is not rare, their characteristics and risk factors are not fully understood.

We read with interest Teodorescu et al’s article on a prospective, observational, single-centre study of the characteristics of 10 patients with new-onset or exacerbated postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) after receiving an mRNA anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccine [1]. All 10 patients had pre-existing illnesses that predisposed to POTS, such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome, or autoimmune, neurological or cardiac conditions [1]. The mean skin sympathetic nerve activity (SKNA) amplitude was reduced in POTS patients [1].

Mashup Score: 9Does Spatio-Temporal Dispersion Indicate a Patient-unique Fingerprint or a Generic Characteristic of Persistent Atrial Fibrillation? - 7 day(s) ago
Identifying signatures or metrics to guide patient-specific atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation approaches is paramount for improving outcomes beyond pulmonary vein isolation. These approaches assume that patients exhibit different wavefront dynamics requiring tailored ablation approaches. One such metric for identifying regions that could be targeted during ablation therapy identifies areas with electrogram dispersion1. Dispersion electrograms have time and space dispersion, with activation across the entire AF cycle length.

Mashup Score: 22Early post-ablation atrial fibrillation recurrence: Time to blank the blanking period? - 8 day(s) ago
Early recurrence of atrial arrhythmia (ERA) is commonly seen following catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF), with reported incidences of up to 61% in the first three months.1 ERA is often attributed to transient inflammation induced by tissue damage during ablation and short-term imbalances in autonomic innervation. This forms the physiologic rationale for the accepted convention of a 3-month blanking period, during which arrhythmia recurrences are presumed to be relatively benign and not indicative of treatment failure.
