A 59-year-old male patient was referred to our centre after a scheduled outpatient echocardiogram demonstrated that he had a left ventricular (LV) pseudoaneurysm. The patient reported chest pain and dyspnea on exertion. He had a history of delayed presentation myocardial infarction (MI) 6 months prior, with negative cardiac troponin at presentation. At the time of MI, he was a smoker but had no other past medical history of note. Percutaneous intervention, with placement of a drug-eluting stent to a severe mid left anterior descending artery lesion was performed, and thrombotic occlusion of the principal diagonal artery was medically managed.

Mashup Score: 1Female-Specific Considerations in Aortic Health and Disease - 1 month(s) ago
The aorta plays a central role in the modulation of blood flow to supply end organs and to optimize the workload of the left ventricle. The constant interaction of the arterial wall with protective and deleterious circulating factors, and the cumulative exposure to ventriculoarterial pulsatile load, with its associated intimal-medial changes, are important players in the complex process of vascular aging. Vascular aging is also modulated by biomolecular processes such as oxidative stress, genomic instability, and cellular senescence.

Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary artery disease (MINOCA) is defined as acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with angiographically non-obstructive coronary artery disease. It represents 6% of all AMI and is associated with increased mortality and morbidity. However, the wide array of pathophysiological factors and causes associated with MINOCA presents a diagnostic conundrum. Therefore, we conducted a contemporary systematic review of the pathophysiology of MINOCA.
