Mashup Score: 15Development and Validation of a Score to Assess Transmural Healing and Response in Patients With Crohn’s Disease - 2 month(s) ago
Because transmural healing (TH) could be the best therapeutic target in Crohn’s disease (CD), we aimed to build and validate a score to assess TH and transmural response (TR), and to confirm their association with favorable CD outcomes.

Mashup Score: 1Oral Antibiotic Use in Adulthood and Risk of Early-Onset Colorectal Cancer: A Case-Control Study - 2 month(s) ago
Prior antibiotic use may be a factor in the rising incidence of colorectal cancer seen in those under 50 years of age (early-onset colorectal cancer [EOCRC]); however, the few studies to examine this link have reported conflicting results. Therefore, we evaluated the association between oral antibiotic use in adulthood and EOCRC in a large integrated healthcare system in the United States.

Mashup Score: 9Preoperative Hepatology and Primary Care Visits Improve Postoperative Outcomes in Patients With Cirrhosis Undergoing Surgery - 2 month(s) ago
Cirrhosis patients are at increased risk for postoperative complications. It remains unclear whether preoperative nonsurgical clinician visits improve postoperative outcomes. We assessed the impact of preoperative primary care physician (PCP) and/or gastroenterologist/hepatologist (GI/Hep) visits on postoperative mortality in cirrhosis patients undergoing surgery and explored differences in medication changes and paracentesis rates as potential mediators.

Mashup Score: 12Machine Learning–Based Models for Advanced Fibrosis and Cirrhosis Diagnosis in Chronic Hepatitis B Patients With Hepatic Steatosis - 2 month(s) ago
The global rise of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) superimposed on hepatic steatosis (HS) warrants noninvasive, precise tools for assessing fibrosis progression. This study leveraged machine learning (ML) to develop diagnostic models for advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis in this patient population.

Mashup Score: 39Definitions, Etiologies, and Outcomes of Acute on Chronic Liver Failure: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis - 2 month(s) ago
Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a major public health concern. We aimed to assess the definitions, etiologic spectrum, organ failure (OF), and outcomes of ACLF globally.

Mashup Score: 0Follow-Up Colonoscopy for Detection of Missed Colorectal Cancer After Diverticulitis - 3 month(s) ago
Colonoscopy often is recommended after an episode of diverticulitis to exclude missed colorectal cancer (CRC). This is a controversial recommendation based on limited evidence. We estimated the prevalence and odds of CRC and advanced colorectal neoplasia on colonoscopy in patients with diverticulitis compared with CRC screening.

Mashup Score: 5Characterization of Biologic Discontinuation Among Pediatric Patients With Crohn’s Disease - 3 month(s) ago
Biologic therapies may effectively treat Crohn’s disease (CD), and pediatric patients who discontinue multiple biologics risk exhausting treatment options. The frequency and context of biologic discontinuation have not been well-characterized. We aimed to determine patterns of biologic use, discontinuation, and evaluation in pediatric patients with CD.

Mashup Score: 12Cost-Effectiveness of the Baveno VI Criteria Compared With Endoscopy for High-Risk Varices in Patients With Child-Pugh A Cirrhosis - 3 month(s) ago
Although upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (EGD) remains the gold standard for detecting varices in cirrhosis, the Baveno VI criteria proposed a combination of transient elastography and platelet count that could rule out high-risk varices, therefore sparing the need for an endoscopy, with significant potential cost savings. We performed a cost-effectiveness analysis of the Baveno VI criteria compared with EGD in the diagnosis of high-risk varices in cirrhosis.
