Background Vegan and vegetarian dietary patterns are known to beneficially modulate risk factors for cardiovascular disease; however, the current literature does not differentiate between various plant-based diets. This study aimed to examine the association between various plant-based diets and plasma lipids and glycaemic indices compared to a regular meat-eating diet. Methods A cross-sectional study of Australian adults (n = 230) aged 30-75yrs habitually consuming the following were recruited: vegan, lacto-vegetarian, pesco-vegetarian, semi-vegetarian, or regular meat-eater. Multivariable regression analysis was used to adjust for covariates. Background The link between body roundness index (BRI) and osteoarthritis (OA) has yet to be validated. Our aim was to explore this connection between BRI and OA risk. Methods This cross-sectional study utilized the 1999–2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey retrieved data. To assess the association between BRI and OA risk, we performed weighted multivariable regression analysis (MVRA), with smooth curve fitting for potential nonlinear association and subgroup analysis and interaction tests for relationships in specific subgroups. A 7:3 ratio was adopted for the random division of the acquired data into training and validation sets. Subsequently, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression, along with MVRA, were conducted for the training set to isolate variables for a prediction model. Background The association between dietary cholesterol and metabolic diseases remains controversial. However, the majority of studies focus on egg intake, and there is a limitation in the availability of prospective cohort studies. Our study examined the association between dietary cholesterol and the incidence risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in middle aged adults using large prospective cohort study in Republic of Korea. Background Studies have found that high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels are linked to a variety of diseases. However, evidence for the relationship between stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and HDL-C remain limited. Methods 590 eligible women were enrolled. Basic characteristic, gynecological examinations and blood sampling were collected. The examination of the possible link between HDL-C and SUI was done using univariate and multivariate logistic regression. Feature importance ranking and Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were performed to further evaluate the association between HDL-C and SUI in women.
