“Short,” “long,” and “short-plus-long’’ coupled idiopathic ventricular fibrillation: Distribution, demographic, and electrophysiologic characteristics—A THESIS substudy
A prospective study1 and literature review2 reported that along with the classic short-coupled mode of ventricular fibrillation (VF) initiation in idiopathic ventricular fibrillation (IVF), “not-so-short” coupling intervals (CIs) (≥350 ms) are not uncommon. However, these studies involved a limited number of arrhythmic events. As part of THESIS (THerapy Efficacy in Short and/or long coupled Idiopathic ventricular fibrillation: an international Survey), a multicenter international retrospective observational study, we recently reported the mode of initiation of IVF during 410 arrhythmic episodes in 180 patients.
