Teaching NeuroImage: Suspecting Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Diagnosing Spinal Cord Ependymoma | Neurology
This article has been corrected. A 32-year-old right-handed man presented with left carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) symptoms, describing sensory changes to the first 3 digits and pain with hand use. EMG/NCS was normal 6 months earlier, as seen in approximately 25% of CTS cases. 1 On examination, he had 5/5 bilateral hand strength, positive left Tinel and Phalen signs, and normal reflexes. Wrist splinting was unhelpful. A CTS steroid injection alleviated pain for 6 weeks; however, his symptoms returned.
