    Dear Drs. Shafik and Armstrong: As healthcare professionals, we write to you on a matter of grave concern with which you, as the President of Columbia University and the CEO of the medical center, are already familiar. Dr. Robert Hadden was an obstetrician-gynecologist who worked at Columbia University/New York Presbyterian Hospital for over 20 years. As early as 1994, the university was informed he was sexually assaulting his patients. Despite multiple similar patient complaints over the years, even after he was arrested in 2012, the university allowed him to continue working for 5 more weeks. At least 8 people have said he assaulted them during those 5 weeks. The responsibility for all the avoidable harm over the course of his career does not rest on Hadden alone–Columbia shoulders this, too. Only this year, in 2023, was Hadden finally held accountable. Due to the hard work of survivors and advocates, in July of this year, he was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Despite
