Mashup Score: 5Reintroduction of peanut into the infant diet following negative peanut oral food challenges - 1 month(s) ago
Unnecessary allergen avoidance following a negative food challenge is a significant concern, given that early introduction of allergens into the diet is the only evidence-based food allergy prevention strategy. Studies have shown that 20% to 30% of school-aged children continue to avoid an allergen despite a negative oral food challenge (OFC),1-4 but there is a paucity of literature on introduction of allergens following negative OFC in infants. Using data from the population-based HealthNuts cohort, we aimed to examine peanut ingestion patterns in infants following a negative peanut OFC at age 1 year, identify factors associated with restricted peanut intake, and explore potential associations with late-onset peanut allergy.
