Mashup Score: 0Hematologic Malignancy: Who Cares in the End? A Retrospective Cohort Study of Markers of Quality End-of-Life Care - 8 month(s) ago
Background: Early palliative care is increasingly used in solid organ malignancy but is less established in patients with hematologic malignancy. Disease-related factors increase the demand for hospitalization, treatment, and supportive care in patients with hematologic malignancy. The terminal phase of illness in patients with hematologic malignancy can be difficult to predict, resulting in complexities in establishing a standard for quality end-of-life care. Methods: This is a retrospective single-center cohort study of adult patients with hematologic malignancy who died between October 2019 and July 2022. Patients were identified, and disease characteristics, therapy, and outcomes were extracted from medical records. Descriptive statistics are reported and univariate analyses were performed across a range of factors to assess for associations. Results: A total of 229 patients were identified, with a median age of 77 years and 35% female. In the final 30 days of life, 65% presented t

Mashup Score: 0Applying Quality Indicators to Examine Quality of Care During Active Surveillance in Low-Risk Prostate Cancer: A Population-Based Study - 12 month(s) ago
Background: Although a few studies have reported wide variations in quality of care in active surveillance (AS), there is a lack of research using validated quality indicators (QIs). The aim of this study was to apply evidence-based QIs to examine the quality of AS care at the population level. Methods: QIs were measured using a population-based retrospective cohort of patients with low-risk…

Mashup Score: 4Telemedicine Adoption in an NCI-Designated Cancer Center During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Report on Patient Experience of Care - 12 month(s) ago
Background: Patients with cancer require timely access to care so that healthcare providers can prepare an optimal treatment plan with significant implications for quality of life and mortality. The COVID-19 pandemic spurred rapid adoption of telemedicine in oncology, but study of patient experience of care with telemedicine in this population has been limited. We assessed overall patient…

Mashup Score: 0Association Between Pretreatment Skeletal Muscle and Outcomes After CAR T-Cell Therapy - 1 year(s) ago
Background: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between baseline skeletal muscle measurements, acute toxicity (immune effector cell–associated neurotoxicity syndrome [ICANS], cytokine release syndrome), and treatment efficacy in patients undergoing CAR T-cell therapy for B-lineage lymphoma. Patients and Methods: Skeletal muscle measurements were obtained from automated CT…

Mashup Score: 1Nationwide Trends and Determinants of Germline BRCA1/2 Testing in Patients With Breast and Ovarian Cancer - 1 year(s) ago
Background: Germline genetic testing (GT) for BRCA1/2 is instrumental in identifying patients with breast and ovarian cancers who are eligible for PARP inhibitors (PARPi). Little is known about recent trends and determinants of GT since PARPi were approved for these patients. Patients and Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study of patients in a nationwide electronic health record…

Mashup Score: 0Impact of Anti-HER2 Therapy Alone and With Weekly Paclitaxel on the Ovarian Reserve of Young Women With HER2-Positive Breast Cancer - 1 year(s) ago
Background: The potential gonadotoxicity of anti-HER2 agents remains largely unknown, and limited, conflicting evidence exists for taxanes. Antimüllerian hormone (AMH) is an established biomarker of ovarian reserve that may aid in quantifying anticancer treatment–induced gonadotoxicity. Patients and Methods: The present biomarker analysis of the randomized phase III neoadjuvant NeoALTTO trial…

Mashup Score: 0Indicators of Clinical Trajectory in Patients With Cancer Who Receive Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - 1 year(s) ago
Background: Patients with cancer who require cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) historically have had low survival to hospital discharge; however, overall CPR outcomes and cancer survival have improved. Identifying patients with cancer who are unlikely to survive CPR could guide and improve end-of-life discussions prior to cardiac arrest. Methods: Demographics, clinical variables, and outcomes…
