Cardiovascular complications are a leading cause of rising maternal morbidity and mortality rates in the United States.1 Many cardiovascular complications that arise during the peripartum period occur in patients without known cardiovascular disease, but individuals with congenital heart disease (CHD) are a high-risk population.2,3 Due to medical and surgical advances, more than 95% of patients born with CHD survive to childbearing age.4 Many of these patients desire to carry a pregnancy, making multidisciplinary cardio-obstetric management paramount to successful outcomes in this population of patients.
