Mashup Score: 0How to be a Sustainability Champion in Your Health System - 3 month(s) ago
Surgeons across the U.S. have expressed frustration that the amount of waste generated in their operating rooms seems to be spiraling upwards. Orthopaedic surgery is particularly high in waste generation, with studies showing up to 41lbs of waste per hip scope or 46.5lbs of waste per total knee replacement. Several institutions have taken leadership roles in identifying common sources of unnecessary waste to facilitate high-yield interventions. Learning Objectives: Identify high-quality resources (reading materials, educational and training programs, funding opportunities) to learn more about sustainable practices. Understand some common roadblocks to instituting sustainable changes as an individual or an institution. Generate interest in collaborative research and quality improvement studies in this space.
