The physiological response of the right ventricle (RV) following left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation is difficult to predict. We aimed to investigate RV geometric and functional changes after LVAD insertion and their effects on clinical outcomes.

Changes in RV dimensions are not included in risk predictions post LVAD. A non-adapted RV was associated with alterations TV & RV geometry, leading to worsening TR. This may help identify patients that may be refractory to LVAD therapy. @HideyukiHayash6 🔗 https://t.co/m0vkYBMX3T https://t.co/cB6Y6O1xjn

Mashup Score: 5Development and validation of primary graft dysfunction predictive algorithm for lung transplant candidates - 23 day(s) ago
Primary graft dysfunction (PGD) is the leading cause of early morbidity and mortality after lung transplantation. Accurate prediction of PGD risk could inform donor approaches and perioperative care planning. We sought to develop a clinically useful, generalizable PGD prediction model to aid in transplant decision-making.

Mashup Score: 20A multicenter evaluation of the HeartMate 3 risk score - 23 day(s) ago
The Heartmate 3 (HM3) risk score (HM3RS) was derived and validated internally from within the Multicenter Study of MagLev Technology in Patients Undergoing Mechanical Circulatory Support Therapy with HeartMate 3 (MOMENTUM 3) trial population and provides 1- and 2-year mortality risk prediction for patients in those before HM3 left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. We aimed to evaluate the HM3RS in nontrial unselected patients, including those not meeting inclusion criteria for MOMENTUM 3 trial enrollment.

Mashup Score: 1Impact of recipient age on mortality among Cytomegalovirus (CMV)-seronegative lung transplant recipients with CMV-seropositive donors - 25 day(s) ago
Cytomegalovirus (CMV)-seronegative lung transplant recipients (LTRs) with seropositive donors (CMV D+/R−) have the highest mortality of all CMV serostatuses. Due to immunosenescence and other factors, we hypothesized CMV D+/R− status might disproportionately impact older LTRs. Thus, we investigated whether recipient age modified the relationship between donor CMV status and mortality among CMV-seronegative LTRs.

Mashup Score: 2Gastrointestinal bleeding following Heartmate 3 left ventricular assist device implantation: The Michigan Bleeding Risk Model - 27 day(s) ago
Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) results in frequent hospitalizations and impairs quality of life in durable left ventricular assist device (LVAD) recipients. Anticipation of these events before implantation could have important implications for patient selection and management.

Mashup Score: 44Occult Right Ventricular Dysfunction and Right Ventricular-Vascular Uncoupling in Left Ventricular Assist Device Recipients - 29 day(s) ago
Current assessments remain insensitive for detecting right heart failure post left ventricular assist device (LVAD). Sensitive pressure-volume loop assessments of right ventricle (RV) contractility may improve our appreciation of post-LVAD RV dysfunction.

Mashup Score: 11Utility of the Stanford Integrated Psychosocial Assessment for Transplant in predicting outcomes before and after lung transplantation - 1 month(s) ago
Optimizing donor use and achieving maximal survival following lung transplantation (LTx) require a pretransplant assessment that identifies clinical, physiological, and psychosocial patient factors associated with both poor and optimal post-LTx survival. We examined the utility of a psychosocial tool, the Stanford Integrated Psychosocial Assessment for Transplant (SIPAT), to identify patient suitability for LTx, as well as its association with clinical outcomes before and after LTx.

Long-term changes in exercise capacity and cardiopulmonary hemodynamics after pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) have been poorly described.

In this issue, female CTEPH pts. showed worse outcomes after Pulm Endarterectomy. This highlights the need for expanded use of Balloon Pulm Angioplasty, as we have highlighted in previous work. @alexcruzutrilla @H12O_HPulmonar 🔗 https://t.co/jg09spNZma
