Mashup Score: 65Subcision modification to prevent intraoperative blood spillage and to keep the needle aligned - 1 month(s) ago
The traditional subcision is often associated with the spurting of blood from the needle hub and rotation of the beveled end of the needle. These issues lead to obscuring the operative field, the need for an assistant, increase procedure time, and rarely ineffective subcision. Various modifications like bending the needle, holding the needle with artery forceps, and marking the needle have been reported in the past to prevent the rotation of the needle.

Hair loss is devastating to the patient, but the diagnosis and treatment of alopecia are also difficult for primary care providers and even dermatologists. Given recent advances in the field, there has never been a more pressing time to reevaluate and improve upon the significant clinical skills needed to accurately diagnose and treat our patients with hair loss. This CME activity on alopecia is designed to (1) educate dermatologists in a simple, succinct fashion on the identification of, and the distinction between, the diverse types of hair loss and (2) discuss how to manage them.

Mashup Score: 12Guidance on screening magnetic resonance imaging decisions for congenital melanocytic nevi - 1 month(s) ago
To the Editor: We appreciate the interest in our study and comment from Dr Kinsler and are grateful for her leadership in characterizing the genetics and risk factors for children with congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN). The guideline to perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain and spine in children with 2 or more CMN of any size is a sensitive rule of thumb; our original study1 supports the conclusions made surrounding larger and more numerous CMN phenotypes.

Mashup Score: 47Germline Cancer Susceptibility in Individuals with Melanoma - 2 month(s) ago
Inherited melanoma is not rare: approximately 1 in 7 individuals with melanoma harbored clinically relevant hereditable cancer susceptibility in a prospective cross-sectional study, with 3 validation cohorts supporting 10-16% incidence. We recommend obtaining family history inclusive of non-cutaneous cancers and considering genetics referral for ≥2 melanomas/cancers to increase diagnostic yield.
