Metastatic renal clear cell carcinoma mimics eyelid sebaceous carcinoma (SC). A 63-year-old man presented with a solitary mass with large vessels in lower eyelid (A-B). After tumor resection, pathology disclosed vacuolated tumor cells with atypical nuclei suggestive of SC (C, upper part). His eyelid was tumor free after surgery. Nevertheless, he noticed a nasal mass 9 months postoperatively, and subsequent examinations revealed a renal mass. Further biopsy was pathologically proved renal clear cell carcinoma (C, lower part).

Mashup Score: 4An Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Timolol Maleate 0.5% Microdrops Administered with the Nanodropper® - 13 day(s) ago
Examine if 12.5 μL timolol maleate 0.5% microdrops dispensed with the Nanodropper® Adaptor provide non-inferior intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction compared to conventional, 28 μL drops in open-angle glaucoma (OAG) and ocular hypertension (OHT) patients.

Bigger isn’t always better! Timolol conventional drops vs microdrops (via Nanodropper) did not signif differ in their IOP-lowering efficacy. Timolol microdrops had a slightly more favorable cardiovascular profile as reflected by the attenuated HR reduction https://t.co/FSGermnogS https://t.co/kyNFbzyBlE

Mashup Score: 11Consensus Guidelines versus Evidence-Based Medicine in the Treatment of Corneal Abrasions - 14 day(s) ago
Corneal abrasions are the most common condition of patients seeking treatment at emergency departments in the United States and Europe and are thought to account for approximately 4% of all emergency department visits.1 Our emergency physician colleagues perform essential work assessing these patients and managing their care in a timely fashion, often without the need for ophthalmic consultation. Patients subsequently may seek treatment from ophthalmologists for follow-up with the medications and treatments prescribed by our colleagues.

Mashup Score: 9Medial Canthal Collision Tumor with Seborrheic Keratosis Hiding Underlying Basal Cell Carcinoma - 14 day(s) ago
A 74-year-old man presented with a 3-year history of a tan papule on his right medial canthus (A). Excisional biopsy showed basket-weave hyperkeratosis (B, arrowhead), acanthosis (C, double-headed arrow), papillomatosis with squared fronds (C, ∗), and horn pseudocysts (D, ★) overlying nests of peripheral palisading atypical basaloid cells with surrounding retraction artifact (E, arrows), indicative of a collision tumor consisting of an overlying seborrheic keratosis (SK) and an underlying nodular-type basal cell carcinoma (BCC).

A 47-year-old woman developed left eyelid drop, proptosis, ophthalmoplegia, and conjunctival injection (A) 6 days after endovascular mechanical thrombectomy of a left internal carotid artery occlusion. On examination, visual acuity was intact with no pupillary defect, whereas vascular studies demonstrated normal ophthalmic arterial flow (B), ruling out orbital infarction syndrome. C, Computed topography angiography excluded a carotid cavernous fistula, while magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated extraocular muscle enlargement and intraconal fat straining.

Mashup Score: 3Assessment of Visual Function With Cotoretigene Toliparvovec in X-Linked Retinitis Pigmentosa in the Randomized XIRIUS Phase 2/3 Study - 24 day(s) ago
Cotoretigene toliparvovec (BIIB112/AAV8-RPGR) is an investigational vector-based gene therapy designed to provide a full-length, codon-optimized, retinitis pigmentosa GTPase regulator (RPGR) protein to individuals with RPGR-associated X-linked retinitis pigmentosa (XLRP). We assessed efficacy and safety of cotoretigene toliparvovec subretinal gene therapy.
