Provision of care in clinical cardiac electrophysiology during and after the COVID-19 pandemic: an open challenge for health care systems
The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic was first reported in China between December 2019 and January 2020 and then spread to Europe, with Italy among the first countries with recognized clusters. Within a few weeks, the COVID-19 pandemic had reached all the western countries with such a dramatic course that it was recognized by the World Healthcare Organization (WHO) as a public health emergency of international concern. The COVID-19 pandemic turned everyone’s life upside down and the end of the emergency was declared by WHO only on May 5, 2023.
