Direct capacity regeneration for spent Li-ion batteries
Efficient recycling of spent Li-ion batteries is critical for sustainability, especially with the increasing electrification of industry. This can be achieved by reducing costly, time-consuming, and energy-intensive processing steps. Our proposed technology recovers battery capacity by injecting reagents, eliminating the need for dismantling. The injection treatment of potential-controlled radical anionic naphthalene into capacity-degraded batteries recovered capacity without degradation. We have also succeeded in confirming the capacity-recovery effect in large practical batteries.
