Echocardiographic Features of Cardiac Echinococcal Infection
A cardiac mass is a rare but important finding that requires a thorough clinical history and diagnostic evaluation. Masses may be due to tumors, thrombi, vegetations, calcific lesions, cysts, and other less common conditions. Clinical manifestations of cardiac masses relate to their size, anatomic location, rate of growth, invasion into adjacent tissues, and risk for embolization.1 Intracavitary masses may lead to symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, syncope, or stroke due to obstruction or embolization.
