20-Year-Old Woman With Right Upper Quadrant Pain
A 20-year-old woman presented to the emergency department (ED) for a 2-week history of abdominal pain. The pain was constant and localized to the epigastric and right upper quadrant (RUQ) regions. Associated symptoms included nausea, anorexia, and fatigue. The patient denied emesis, diarrhea, or arthralgias. She reported occasional postprandial and colicky abdominal pain. One week before the onset of symptoms, she reported a self-resolving febrile upper respiratory tract infection for which she did not undergo confirmatory testing.
