Mashup Score: 51The Elusive Horizon: Biomarkers in Urothelial Carcinoma - 3 month(s) ago
Urinary tests for circulating tumor DNA have potential for accurate discrimination of bladder cancer from other common inflammatory processes. Efforts are still needed to determine whether these tests can differentiate between cancer and field cancerization and to demonstrate clinical benefit in prospective trials.

Mashup Score: 6RNA Splicing of the BHC80 Gene Contributes to Neuroendocrine Prostate Cancer Progression - 3 month(s) ago
We report that alternative RNA splicing of the histone demethylase BHC80 gene promotes prostate adenocarcinoma progression to treatment-induced neuroendocrine prostate cancer (t-NEPC). Functionally, reprogrammed RNA splice variant of BHC80-2 mediates nonepigenetic actions in cytoplasm, to stimulate multiple tumor-promoting cytokines for t-NEPC development androgen independently.

A urologist’s tendency to manage one low-risk malignancy with active surveillance (AS) corresponds to their use of AS for a second low-risk condition. These data may help in quality improvement efforts to reduce the overtreatment of indolent genitourinary malignancies.

Mashup Score: 108The Role of Multiparametric MRI and MRI–targeted Biopsy in the Diagnosis of Radiorecurrent Prostate Cancer: An Analysis from the FORECAST Trial - 3 month(s) ago
For suspected prostate cancer recurrence after radiotherapy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-detected tumours were larger and of higher grade. MRI-targeted biopsy alone detects the presence of cancer in the majority, though three of five patients with cancer harboured additional lesions in unsampled regions that would need systematic sampling to identify.

Mashup Score: 36
Prostate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans in a screening setting are more difficult to read for men aged 45 yr than for older men. The accuracy of MRI for detection of clinically significant prostate cancer (PC) is highly dependent on reader experience, and double reading might be advisable. Depending on the cutoff score used for biopsy decisions (PI-RADS 3 or 4), MRI can help in avoiding detection of low-risk PC in up to 71% and in avoiding biopsy in up to 68% of cases.

Mashup Score: 4Deconstructing, Addressing, and Eliminating Racial and Ethnic Inequities in Prostate Cancer Care - 4 month(s) ago
Men of African ancestry demonstrate the highest rates of prostate cancer mortality around the world, a phenomenon that is rooted in a complex interaction between structural, social, and health factors. This risk appears to be modifiable through social and health interventions. This analysis presents a framework for formalizing the identification of the drivers of prostate cancer inequities to facilitate the development of interventions and trials to create equitable outcomes for Black men with prostate cancer.
