Mashup Score: 93Target Delineation in Postoperative Radiotherapy for Head and Neck Cancer after Flap Reconstruction - 6 day(s) ago
As surgical techniques for head and neck cancer (HNC) evolve, the resection defect at the primary site and/or the neck is often closed by flap reconstruction. Reconstruction of the soft tissue and bone can be done using microvascular free flaps from a distant site, such as an anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap (Figure 1), fibula flap (Figure 2) or radial forearm free flap (RFF, Figure 3), or pedicled flaps from an adjacent but uninvolved area while maintaining its original blood supply, such as a submental or pectoralis flap.

While standardization has been shown to improve patient safety and improve the efficiency of workflows, implementation of standards can take considerable effort and requires the engagement of all clinical stakeholders. Engaging team members includes increasing awareness of the proposed benefit of the standard, a clear implementation plan, monitoring for improvements, and open communication to support successful implementation. The benefits of standardization often focus on large institutions to improve research endeavors, yet all clinics can benefit from standardization to increase quality and implement more efficient or automated workflow.

Mashup Score: 7Adapt-On-Demand: A Novel Strategy for Personalized Adaptive Radiation Therapy for Locally Advanced Lung Cancer - 7 day(s) ago
Real-time adaptation of thoracic radiation plans is compelling because offline adaptive experiences show that tumor volumes and lung anatomy can change during therapy. We present and analyze a novel adaptive-on-demand (AOD) workflow combining online adaptive radiation therapy (o-ART) on the ETHOS system with image guided radiation therapy delivery on a Halcyon unit for conventional fractionated radiation therapy of locally advanced lung cancer (LALC).

Head+neck cancer pts treated with RT are at a higher risk of carotid artery stenosis and stroke. Survivorship care should include screening of CVD risk factors and consideration of carotid screening to new #RedJournal article. @justinsmith_1 @lachiemcd https://t.co/8OHn070bvV https://t.co/GXGiejv2rY

Childhood cancer survivors are at high risk of long-term iatrogenic events, in particular those treated with radiotherapy. The prediction of risk of such events is mainly based on the knowledge of the radiation dose received to healthy organs and tissues during treatment of childhood cancer diagnosed decades ago.
