Mashup Score: 0Short- to medium-term outcomes and future direction of reverse shoulder arthroplasty: Current concepts - 6 month(s) ago
Reverse shoulder arthroplasty is typically indicated for patients with severe shoulder osteoarthritis, rotator cuff tear arthropathy, or proximal humerus fractures that have failed to heal properly. The primary goal of reverse shoulder arthroplasty is to improve shoulder function and reduce pain, while also restoring the ability to perform daily activities. There is a growing body of evidence supporting the effectiveness of reverse shoulder arthroplasty in improving shoulder function and reducing pain in patients with severe shoulder osteoarthritis or rotator cuff tear arthropathy.

Mashup Score: 4Arthroscopic and open approaches for autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis repair of the knee have similar results: a meta-analysis - 6 month(s) ago
Cartilage defects are debilitating injuries that can reduce quality of life in patients. However, the poor regenerative properties of cartilage mean that cartilage repair remains challenging, and many methods have arisen to address that. Autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis (AMIC®) is a popular technique to manage cartilage defects. Recent advances have allowed AMIC® to be done arthroscopically, instead of a mini-open arthrotomy approach. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to investigate whether the arthroscopic approach to AMIC® provides better clinical outcomes than does the mini-open approach, in hopes of delineating a gold standard in cartilage repair.

Mashup Score: 155Medial Opening Wedge High Tibial Osteotomy for the Treatment of Medial Unicompartmental Knee Osteoarthritis: a state-of-the-art review - 6 month(s) ago
Medial unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis is a common condition that is frequently associated with significant pain and dysfunction. Medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO) offers a unique opportunity to preserve the knee joint and potentially alter the course of the degenerative process. Recent advances in this field of surgery have enabled surgeons to perform a MOWHTO in a safe, reliable, and reproducible manner. This state-of-the-art review highlights the most important advances in the field of medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy.

Mashup Score: 14Deficits in muscle strength are not seen following recovery from augmented primary repair of anterior cruciate ligament tears - 6 month(s) ago
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair for proximal tears, where the ligament is re-attached and augmented with suture tape, can negate the need for graft harvest, thereby maintaining native anatomy. Autograft harvest has been associated with persistent deficits in lower limb muscle strength after recovery from ACL reconstruction. The aim of this study is to compare lower limb muscle strength following ACL repair and reconstruction.

Although meniscal allograft transplantation (MAT) is a well-established procedure with satisfactory clinical results, limited in vivo kinematic information exists on the effect of medial and lateral MAT performed in the clinical setting. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the biomechanical effect of arthroscopic isolated medial and lateral MAT with a soft-tissue fixation on pre- and post-operative knee laxity using a surgical navigation system.
