Board certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) hits a critical milestone this month as the practice pathway option for initial applications comes to an end. Examination applications will not be accepted after April 30, 2024. Beginning in 2026, new applicants for future exams, will be required to have completed accredited fellowship training in PHM.

“Action” Jackson Webb ran in playgrounds, danced, and played sports as a preschooler. At home, he often jumped off the couch and ran up the stairs two at a time. But in kindergarten, when he started spending more and more time with his 4-month-old sister on the floor of their home and could barely climb the stairs without assistance, his parents knew something was wrong.  “We panicked and wanted to urgently find out what was up with our boy,” says Jonathan Webb, Jackson’s father and a member of the Family Leadership Committee at the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). “The process from that point became both scary and frustrating.”
