Latest analysis shows that NCDs and mental health are not being consistently included in UN cooperation frameworks in humanitarian settings
An important new paper has just been published by the Task Force Secretariat, Integration of noncommunicable diseases and mental health into United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Frameworks: insights from humanitarian settings. Of the 33 UNSDCFs reviewed, 48% (16/33) included NCDs and 73% (24/33) included mental health. Overall, 36% (12/33) of UNSDCFs included both NCDs and mental health. Five countries did not include either NCDs or mental health. The paper outlines a set of recommendations and points for discussion, which Task Force members agreed to take forward together at the 22nd Meeting of the Task Force that was held in March 2024. In addition, members of the Task Force asked the Secretariat to remind countries with expiring UN Cooperation Frameworks, including those in emergency settings of the importance of including NCDs and mental health as broader development priorities and to offer the support of the Task Force as required.
