Lymph node excisions provide more precise lymphoma diagnoses than core biopsies: a French Lymphopath network survey

A review of 32 285 lymph node biopsy cases registered in the French Lymphopath network showed that core needle biopsy provided diagnosis in provided a definitive diagnosis in 92.3% and seemed to be a reliable method of investigation for most patients with suspected lymphoma. Surgical excision provided a definitive diagnosis in 98.1% of cases. Hodgkin lymphoma and T-Cell lymphomas seemed to benefit from the full excision biopsy.
