Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists are approved by the Food and Drug Administration for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular risk reduction in this cohort (see table). 1 In addition, GLP-1 receptor agonists are also used for weight loss.
