A Matched Analysis of Active Surveillance Versus Nephrectomy for T1a Small Renal Masses
In a cohort of patients with a small renal mass (SRM) matched for age and health status, 5-yr outcomes for those managed with active surveillance were excellent and not significantly different from those for patients managed with nephrectomy. Our study population is younger and healthier than cohorts previously examined, suggesting that active surveillance for SRMs is safe in routine clinical practice.
