Mashup Score: 15Altered B-Cell Expansion and Maturation in Draining Mesenteric Lymph Nodes of Inflamed Gut in Crohn’s Disease - 28 day(s) ago
Recent studies have investigated the role of B-cell responses in ulcerative colitis, which exclusively affects the colon, whereas data in Crohn’s disease (CD), which mainly affects the terminal ileum, are insufficient.1–4 Granuloma formation within the thickened, inflamed mesentery of patients with CD, however, is associated with significantly worse outcome,5–7 and microstructural analysis has suggested increased numbers of B cells in CD mesentery.8 Although a healthy orchestrated mucosal immune response involves B-cell maturation and development of IgA-secreting plasma cells directed toward more invasive strains of bacteria, anticommensal IgG can be found in patients with CD, which usually are absent in healthy controls.

Mashup Score: 0‘Case appears clearcut’: Top-down therapy should be ‘standard of care’ for new Crohn’s - 1 month(s) ago
Early treatment with infliximab plus an immunomodulator resulted in more frequent steroid-free and surgery-free remission at 1 year compared with conventional therapy among patients with newly diagnosed Crohn’s disease, researchers reported. “The ability to predict which patients would benefit from early advanced therapies would enable targeting of these treatments to patients who

Mashup Score: 1Biologics have only ‘slight impact’ vs. conventional therapy on surgery-free survival in CD - 3 month(s) ago
The introduction of biologics as a therapeutic option for Crohn’s disease had “only a slight impact” on eventual surgery occurrence, although it may delay the first intestinal resection compared with conventional therapy, data showed. “Recently, conventional therapy has become increasingly unattractive due to its lower effectiveness in inducing and maintaining remission in

Mashup Score: 3Adalimumab in Biologic-naïve Patients With Crohn’s Disease After Resolution of an Intra-abdominal Abscess: A Prospective Study From the GETAID - 4 month(s) ago
The management of intra-abdominal abscesses complicating Crohn’s disease (CD) is challenging, and surgery with delayed intestinal resection is often recommended. The aims of this study were to estimate the success rate of adalimumab (ADA) in patients with CD with an intra-abdominal abscess resolved without surgery, and to identify predictive factors for success.

Mashup Score: 5
Colonoscopy (CS) is the gold standard to assess postoperative recurrence (POR) in Crohn’s disease (CD). However, CS is invasive and may be poorly tolerated by patients. The aim of this study was to prospectively assess the diagnostic accuracy of a noninvasive approach in detecting POR, using the endoscopic Rutgeerts’ score (RS) as the reference standard.
