Mashup Score: 0Approaches to Biliary Atresia Care 12.1.2023 - Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center - Continuing Education (CE) - 6 month(s) ago
Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center, Approaches to Biliary Atresia Care 12.1.2023, 12/1/2023 8:30:00 AM – 12/1/2023 12:30:00 PM, We will highlight recent research and patient management approaches that have improved biliary atresia care at our center during this interactive event designed for pediatric gastroenterologists, hepatologists and pediatric surgeons. Our Faculty will discuss collaborative medical-surgical management of the post-kasai patient and customized post-kasai medication protocols: methods which have resulted in post-kasai native liver survival of 92% over 2 years, and 100% over the last 10 procedures. We present data on increased likelihood of unpalliated and late diagnosis biliary atresia among non-white patients, approaches to improve early diagnosis across all populations, and controversies in surgical management among patients with late diagnoses. Please join us in the discussion of paradigms in care to improve outcomes for children with biliary atresia a

Mashup Score: 0Primary vs. salvage liver transplantation for biliary atresia: A retrospective cohort study - 1 year(s) ago
Biliary atresia (BA) is the most common cause of end stage liver disease (ESLD) leading to liver transplantation (LT) in children. The current standard of care is to perform a Kasai hepatoportoenterostomy (HPE) for BA early in life (within 3 months of age) in an attempt to restore the flow of bile and reverse cholestasis.
