A randomized trial of 156 people in Pakistan found a plant-based diet significantly improved LDL “bad” cholesterol, HbA1c, fasting blood glucose, c-reactive protein (a marker of inflammation), and blood pressure compared to a control group after one year. Subjective surveys also found that vitality, general health, and physical functioning improved on a plant-based diet.
